Seokmodo is a small island in the sea west of Ganghwado. The scenery of the island is excellent, as the harmony among the mountain, ocean, seaside village and island is ideal. By car, it takes about an hour and a half from downtown Seoul to Oepori Port, the west end of Ganghwa main island. From there, visitors can take a ferry to cross the 1.5 km sea route and disembark at Seokpori Marina on Seokmodo. This trip is quite convenient as several ferries provide shuttle services. When taking a ferry, the flock of gulls that trail alongside the ship is a spectacle that no one should miss. Seokmodo still preserves the fine features of nature. While Ganghwa abounds with historical remains and old battlefields, Seokmodo is a place where visitors can simultaneously enjoy many aspects of nature, such as the striking sight of the island, the scenery of the ocean and the beautiful mountains.
