
Seokmo-do
Seokmo-do is known to offert he best sunsets on the west coast. A real interesting and beautiful place for a one or two da ytrip. Enjoy
strolling along the trail to the 1.000 years old temple Bomunsa is one of the three great temples in Korea. On the cruise ferry boat the
flying seagulls are not afraid to pick food from your hand. At Minmeoru and at Ganghwa you can appreciate the beach and the
seaside.
Recommended Course
◈ First day : From Oepo-hang (ferryboat) → Samnyang-salt field → Minmeoru swimming beach → Jangguneomeo inlet
◈ Second day : Oryujeong port sun rise → Bomunsa temple → History Hall of Ganghwa-do Island → Gwangseongbo, ancient fort-wall → Shilmido Island (experiencing the sea route)
- Samnyang salt fields

- The quality of the harvested salt in these fields was recognized as one of the best
in Korea. The production ended but the salt marshes still attire the attention of the
people passing by.
- Minmeoru beach

- The best beach on Seokmo-do for swimming and enjoying an ecological place.
At low tide the beach changes into wide muddy fields, ideal for mud-pack skin
care treatments or mud-plays.
Rare species can be also observed in this area.
- Jangguneomeo inlet
- The hill side of the island is shaped like an ancient traditional Korean drum called Janggu that is why the village was named
Janggu-maul and Janggunomo. The colored sunset changes this village into a beautiful watercolor painting with as background the
concave shaped inlet of the port.
- Oryujeong port
- This medium size port is continuously in progress and was assigned as a first class port. The simultaneous berthing capacity is 150
vessels of 300 tons class will start from 2007. The ministry of Marine and Fishery has announced to construct the Oryujeong Eco
-friendly sightseeing fishing port at Mimmoru, so the place and the neighboring village will become an experimental site.
- Bomunsa temple

- This temple is located between Sangbongsan(Mt.) and Haemyongsan(Mt.), well
known as one of the three great temples in Korea it is also a traditional place for
the marine prayers, it was erected by Hwajongdaesa in AD 635 (4th year of
the Silla Queen Seondeok) Absolutely to be seeing is the wonderful Buddha
carved under Nunsseopbawi, the “Eyebrow Rock” is the one of 8 famous sight
in Ganghwa since hundred of years. The view of the West Sea side is really
beautiful. A 600 hundred years old aromatic tree, registered as Incheon Memorial
asset#17 spreads is aroma all around the year in the yard of the Bomunsa temple,
here you can release from the stress of the city life.

- Private vehicle: Local road # 48, to Ganghwadaegyo-bridge, to local road #84, to Chanumul T-cross, take right to 6 km, to Insanli Y-cross,
take right, to Oepori ferry pier.
- Public transportation: Seoul City hall or Sinchon terminal: to Gimpo airport (Songjung Chanumul station), to Ganghwa bus terminal, to
Oepo-ri bus, to Oepo-ri ferry pier.

30 minutes) More frequent moving of bus when passenger is flooding.Sunsu - Bomun: Takes 20 minutes. (Leaves at every
